For the 2011 13-year-old World Series the site fee to Babe Ruth League, Inc. was $50,000. Hotel accommodations for the visiting coaches, umpires was upwards of $25,000 for the week. Local sponsorship and volunteerism is geared towards the host team participation, local excitement etc. Only three host teams have ever won a baseball Babe Ruth League World Series title. They are not allowed to participate in district or regional pathway tournaments. Without a host team entry these events will not be possible. To be entered in a world series, or regional tournament for that matter, simply because you're the host team undermines the efforts of those that earned their spot. The expense was almost $5 per transaction, something we weren't about to pass along to the incoming parents/fans and most people surveyed weren't comfortable with PayPal and other methods.
